Today is the Icelandic National Day so I'm going to give you a very short history lesson (and no, you won't be tested). Iceland was settled in 874 and came under Norway in the year 1262. In 1380 Norway and Denmark merged under a single monarch, which meant Danish control. The Danes recognised Iceland as a fully sovereign state in the year 1918 and the independence was gained in 1944 when Denmark was still occupied by Nazi Germany. So, my home country has been independent for 67 years.
And on this day, 13 years ago, hubby and I got married. So here is just a little something for us: The 'Play it, Sam'-scene from Casablanca (1942) starring Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart. The song is of course As Time Goes By.
Have a wonderful day everyone!
